Making a Difference

Drew's Home of Clarkston is an integrated residence that combines disabled adults and the general public in an apartment complex. This design enables residents to have daily encounters with a range of individuals that mirrors the family and community settings where they grew up, went to school, and attended church.

NEWS & UPDATES

September 15, 2026
August 8, 2026 On an extremely pleasant August day, Drew’s Home of Clarkson held its most recent annual golf outing at Boulder Pointe Golf Course. Under the leadership of Mike Hoeksema and Rose Gasiorek and the extraordinary work and commitment of volunteers, donors, and dinner guests, the event was a fantastic success, and as a result, we exceeded our goal of raising $40,000 for our mission. The outing included 220 golfers, a number that exceeded the event’s sold out capacity, and an additional 30 guests who joined for a celebratory dinner. Golfers who arrived before the 9:00 a.m. shotgun start were treated to a mini breakfast of hot drinks, juice and muffins. Following a Drew’s Home of Clarkston prayer led by Geoff Wright, the golfers began their quest for success. Once on the course, golfers were treated to a Boulder Pointe prepared box lunch at the turn and bottled water and soft drinks donated by Pepsi that were available at various locations throughout the course. The golfers also had opportunity to test their skills at holes that offered the longest drive, closest to the pin, and hole-in-one contests. Golfers could also pay for mulligans and Vegas hole chances. Following the day of golf, all golfers, volunteers, donors, and Drew’s Home residents enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by the Boulder Pointe staff. Dinner began with a prayer by Eddie Ball and a dedication to Geoff Wright and his wife Ellen for their groundbreaking work for Drew’s Home. Among their many efforts in support of Drew’s home, they helped create the first golf outing which featured their specially designed registration system that improved golfer registration. Geoff has also been the emcee for all of the golf outings. In addition, all guests were able to participate in a 50/50 raffle, and raffle drawings for a well-stocked booze barrel, as well as for a myriad of other gifts. The success of the outing was the result of a tremendous community effort. Volunteers worked throughout the day to assist with registration, food and beverage service, course activities, and dinner. The DHC extends its sincere appreciation to all volunteers, donors, and golfers who contributed their time, resources, and enthusiasm. The day’s winners include the following: First place team: Ryan Grunkemeyer, Nick Schummer, Brandon Chapman & Mike Weiss. Their names will be added to the Eddie Ball Trophy that was started in 2025. Longest drive winners: Men— Jacob Fedor who won 2 & Joey Stark Women— Adriana Dostine, Ana Medina & Faith Sulich Closest to the pin winners: Men— Scott Mancino, Ryan Brown & Todd Benoit Women— Beth Vance & Nancy Howles who won 2 We are grateful to our sign sponsors that include businesses, churches, families, and individuals. Held on March 14th at Boulder Pointe Golf Club, our Gala was a memorable evening that brought our community together. Dinner, dancing and laughter filled the ballroom.
